for the love good music..

For those of you who are not aware of my love affair with all things Johnny Cash, or just don't know who Johnny Cash even is.... you are truly missing out! Coming soon to Nashville there will be a museum of some of Johnny Cash's artifacts, as well as the restoration of Cash's childhood home in Arkansas. You can head over to Rolling Stones to read about the all these goodies. So, I decided in honor of Johnny Cash's (would be) 80th birthday I would check out some good music today. I discovered great new music made in the south via back down south. *On a side note this blog also features people with not only the best clothes but also amazing boots, which I am always a sucker for! Later on this week I will definitely be putting a list together of todays finds.

And if you haven't noticed yet, CMT is playing Sweet Home Alabama all weekend. One of my favorites, I mean who wouldn't wanna watch yummy southern men with yummy southern accents?

Garden & Gun

Do ya'll know about the magazine Garden & Gun? If not ya'll are truly missing out! If you are from the south this is definitely a magazine for you. They have articles about food, homes, people, and sporting goodies. Today I found an article on southern women that is completely TRUE! I always get a sense of pride in anything southern, which i'm sure any true southerner would as well. You can find the article here. One of my favorite parts of the article:

"To be born a Southern woman is to be made aware of your distinctiveness. And with it, the rules. The expectations. These vary some, but all follow the same basic template, which is, fundamentally, no matter what the circumstance, Southern women make the effort. Which is why even the girls in the trailer parks paint their nails. And why overstressed working moms still bake three dozen homemade cookies for the school fund-raiser. And why you will never see Reese Witherspoon wearing sweatpants. Or Oprah take a nap.

For my mother, being Southern means handwritten thank-you notes, using a rhino horn’s worth of salt in every recipe, and spending a minimum of twenty minutes a day in front of her makeup mirror so she can examine her beauty in “office,” “outdoor,” and “evening” illumination. It also means never leaving the house with wet hair. Not even in the case of fire. Because wet hair is low-rent. It shows you don’t care, and not caring is not something Southern women do, at least when it comes to our hair."

So go on over and read it. Let me know your thoughts....

sorry for being MIA....

.... I have been extremely busy these past few weeks trying to get all of my school work done, working on  my resume, and trying to find jobs to apply to. It is taking most of my time. But along with all of this I have started some new things which I wanted to share with ya'll.

1. I created a Facebook page for my Etsy shop, which you can find it here! I am horrible at marketing anything, so hopefully this works. So go LIKE it!

2. I have finally started a blog for graphic design, which you can find here. Please excuse the mess it is in, I am slowly but surely going to make it look beautiful (and well designed)! I really wanted to start this for job purposes so that they can get an insight to the kind of design I like and hopefully it will help them decide to hire me?! I don't know yet if I will include it on my resume or just casually mention that I have a blog. I am not too confident in my blogging abilities as of yet so we shall see.

3. I'm in the process of creating a personal portfolio as well... I am not going to put the link up yet considering I haven't done anything to it as of yet so hopefully that will be done in the next few weeks.

If ya'll have an Etsy shop or website, share it with me and I will definitely look at your stuff and tell people about it... I know from personal experience how hard it is to get started ;)
